Argos Fall to NYiT in Final Minutes

February 24 – The Notre Dame de Namur lacrosse team could not finish off a magnificent comeback, falling to the New York Institute of Technology 14-13.  The Argos did not lead all game long, but constantly fought back to keep the score close.  The two teams alternated goals in the first quarter with each side scoring three times before the Bears went ahead in the second netting three goals while the Argos managed just one.  After each team scored two more times, the Bears rattled off three straight to push their margin to five goals at 11-6.  However, the Argos were far from out of it, scoring five of the next six goals and moving to within one.  After a NDNU penalty, Austin Carino scored his fourth goal of the half to give the Bears a 13-11 lead but it did not last long as the Argos once again responded by scoring a pair of goals in eight seconds to tie the game with 4:21 left.  NYiT would cap off the scoring on an unassisted goal by Al Maione with 2:16 left.  The Argos got one last chance but Tim Campeau’s shot with two seconds left was saved and ended the game.
