OIT Edges NDNU in Home Opener
August 29– The Argos came out strong but could not sustain the steady
attack of the visiting Owls from Oregon Tech. NDNU won the first game of the
match 30-28 and were led by Emily Evan's 6 kills in the win. OIT gained momentum
in the second game and pulled off the 30-23 victory to even the match at 1 apiece.
The match was evenly played with the Owls also winning the third game 30-24
and then took a quick lead in the final game. In that final game, the Owls got
out to a 20-4 lead before NDNU came to life and battled back to get within 7
points. NDNU held OIT at match point but could not overcome the 16 point early
deficit and dropped the last game 20-26. Evans finished the match with 14 kills,
freshman Laura Trudelle had 12 kills, and Val Adams and Sarah Perry both had
10 kills. Setter, Kristen Everett finished with 31 assists and Erin Canty with
19 digs. The Argos drop to 0-6 on the season and now travel to the Great Falls
Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
